- When the story is momentarily interrupted by a time jump back to a memory.
- Real Time
- When something ages as time goes on. An example of real time would be the comic character John Constantine. He has aged in real time with the comics.
- Dream Sequences
- Dream sequences often feature a blurred border or an edited sound, signifying that it is a dream sequence.
- POV
- POV or Point Of View is when the scene is shot from the view of a character, so through their eyes.
